  • Don’t let stretch marks destroy your body confidence

Stretch marks are fine lines on the body that occur from tissue under your skin tearing from rapid growth or over-stretching.  They are quite common and do not cause any significant medical concerns but can often be an area which concerns many people.

Stretch marks commonly appear on the abdomen or breasts post pregnancy or to the thigh, buttock and breast area in adolescents going through growth spurts.  Some medical conditions and prolonged use of certain medications are also implicated in their development.

The skin becomes flattened and thin with a pink colour when a stretch mark is developing.  Also, the skin can occasionally be itchy and then reddish or purplish lines develop.  Over time these lighten to become whitish or flesh-coloured.  Stretch marks occurring in adolescents become less visible over time and generally require no treatment.

FAQ

+ How does the treatment work?

Our award winning ResurFACE treatment works by treating minute sections of the skin, which stimulate significant collagen renewal in the treated area.  The surrounding non-affected areas of the skin aid the body’s natural recovery process for dramatic results without significant recovery time.  As the new collagen cells replace the old tissue the stretchmarks reduce in appearance.

+ What does treatment feel like?

A warm sensation is felt during treatment which is found tolerable for most clients. We also use a skin cooling device throughout the treatment which can reduce discomfort.

+ What should I expect after treatment?

Your skin will appear red and flushed for a few hours after treatment and can feel quite hot. As the old skin tissue sheds your skin may appear more bronzed or tanned for a few days post treatment.  Your skin will naturally exfoliate and may flake as if you have mild sunburn.

+ How many treatments will I need?

We often advise a series of 3 to 6 treatments for optimal results and we do find that results continue to improve for months after treatment. Treatment is carried out every 4 to 6 weeks but your laser clinician will advise the optimal frequency during your consultation.

+ Are there any side effects?

Side effects are rare but could include a small blister which is superficial and would heal within a week or two. Some clients do experience darkening or lightening of the treated skin which is usually temporary and fades over the following months.
